What I’m currently up to …

(January 8, 2026)
We’re now into the new year, and classes start next week. I’m working to detangle work from play this spring, hopefully this will get me some better trail time this year. The big adventure will be a planned summer AT trip (pending all the logistics fall into place).

It’s fall now, the leaves are starting to change, and I’m still teaching classes. Due to coordination and logistical issues, I missed out on a spring road trip. I ended up having to cancel the summer AT trip as most of the youth ended up with other priorities this past summer. The good news is there is still interest, and we have it as a “Do” item on our annual plan, so we’ll see. I just did this past weekend, a hike with boys from our youth group along a piece of the Palmetto Trail. I hope to pull my notes together for post shortly. Come back again to check on me!

I’ve been negligent in keeping up with my writing. It’s spring and teaching classes; I have a window of some free time coming next month before the summer classes start, so I may make a road trip with Radar and visit the grandkids. I guess I should let their parents know too (I haven’t done that yet). The “something new” coming is a return trip to the AT I think. Working with my youth group it looks like the AT trip is a go. I found a trail section outside of the hurricane damage are which should be a good hike, I’ll post more on this soon.

(September 9, 2024)
Fall semester has started so I’m back at school teaching air conditioning classes. I did make a run up to Mt Mitchel for a short hike with Radar (which was awesome), and bagged a few peaks, great hike. It was nice to get out. Now I’m waiting for something new. Not sure what yet but we’ll see. Otherwise, life is good.

Out of school for the 4th of July holiday week. I was going to head north to visit family but now must wait (sigh) for better timing. I’m undecided but as a fallback plan may head for the mountains with Radar and do some random hiking and peak bagging instead. We’ll see!
